BISMARCK, N.D.-North Dakota Insurance Commissioner Adam Hamm today reported that the storms that went through the Dickinson area the night of July 8 caused considerable damage to homes, buildings and trees in the area. Commissioner Hamm traveled to the area on Thursday with Governor John Hoeven to inspect the damage first hand and meet with homeowners.
Hamm encourages Dickinson-area residents to: 1. Contact their insurance agent or company to report a claim and start the claim process;
2. Take the necessary steps to make temporary repairs to any exterior damage to prevent any further damage to the home or personal property and to protect property; and
3. Start making an inventory of property that was lost and/or damaged as a result of the storm.
"If residents encounter any unreasonable delays or have questions regarding the claims process, I encourage them to call the department for assistance," Hamm said.
