Bismarck, ND - Insurance Commissioner Jim Poolman today reminded seniors that the open enrollment period for Medicare Part D starts on November 15 and runs until December 31, 2006.
Poolman said, "Now is the time for Medicare beneficiaries to review their Part D plan to make sure that they are getting the most out of their Medicare." Poolman added that seniors should think about:
COST: Check to see if your premium and other costs will change in 2007.
COVERAGE: Check to make sure that the prescriptions you are taking will still be covered by your plan in 2007.
CUSTOMER SERVICE: Make sure you are satisfied with your plan's service.
People who did not sign up last year or people who have recently become Medicare eligible should also find out if a Part D plan will benefit them. Medicare beneficiaries who are satisfied with their current plan do not have to do anything to re-enroll.
Anyone who needs information about Medicare Part D should call the Senior Health Insurance Counseling (SHIC) program at 1.888.575.6611 or call Medicare directly at 1-800-MEDICARE.
The SHIC program will hold open enrollment events, statewide in November:
Bismarck - November 17 - west end/ground floor/State Capitol
Grand Forks - November 20 - Hilton Garden Inn - Dahl Room
Fargo - November 21 - West Acres Mall - food court
