Hamm responds to Sanford Health Plan announcement

Bismarck, N.D.-North Dakota Insurance Commissioner Adam Hamm responded to the announcement by Sanford Health Plan today that the company has received its certificate of authority from the Department.

Sanford Health Plan, based in Sioux Falls, S.D., has received its certificate of authority from the Department, allowing the company to sell health insurance in North Dakota. The company still needs to obtain approval of the insurance products and rates it intends to offer in North Dakota.

"This is good news for North Dakotans as they will soon have another option when it comes to purchasing individual and group health insurance," Hamm said. "Competition is critical to ensuring the highest quality of products at affordable prices. We welcome Sanford Health Plan into the market."

Once its products and rates are approved, Sanford Health Plan's name will be added to the list of companies that sell individual and group health insurance policies. The list is available on the North Dakota Insurance Department's website at www.nd.gov/ndins/consumer/health-insurance/health-insurance-plans
