Hamm revokes Minot insurance agent's license

BISMARCK, N.D.-North Dakota Insurance Commissioner Adam Hamm has revoked the license of Alan Henning, a Minot insurance agent who was charged with insurance fraud in 2010. The revocation bars him from selling, soliciting or negotiating insurance in North Dakota.

Henning allegedly obtained unauthorized loans against the assets of the insurance company for which he worked. He is also alleged to have written unauthorized checks to himself from the company's account and to have removed records from the office. The Commissioner issued a Cease and Desist Order on Nov. 4, 2010, which immediately barred Henning from transacting any insurance business pending a full investigation.

The loans and checks were discovered during a routine audit by Insurance Department examiners in 2010. Henning was arrested in November 2010 and charged in state court with felony theft of property.

"This revocation bars Mr. Henning from conducting any further insurance business in North Dakota," Hamm said.

Henning signed a consent order waiving his right to a hearing.

Consumers with questions about insurance policies through Henning are encouraged to call the North Dakota Insurance Department at 1-800-247-0560.
