Hamm serves cease and desist order against Bismarck insurance agent Tanya Rud

BISMARCK, N.D.-North Dakota Insurance Commissioner Adam Hamm recently served a cease and desist order against Tanya Rud, a Bismarck insurance agent, for allegedly being indebted to an insurance company, engaging in financially irresponsible behavior and assisting another insurance producer in selling products for a company with which he was not appointed. The order bars Rud from engaging in the business of insurance.

Rud worked for Brent Kitzan, a Bismarck insurance agent against whom the Department issued a cease and desist order in December. The cease and desist order against Rud alleges that she obtained appointments with companies with which Kitzan could not get or keep his own appointment. Kitzan allegedly sold insurance products to clients, and Rud allegedly signed insurance forms for the companies with which Kitzan was not appointed.

She and Kitzan allegedly owe $24,000 to a bank. Also, one of Rud's appointments was recently terminated by an insurance company because she allegedly owes a commission chargeback that she hasn't repaid.

"The Insurance Department takes these cases very seriously in order to protect North Dakota's consumers," Hamm said. "Anyone that has done business with Ms. Rud and has questions or concerns is encouraged to contact the Insurance Department at 1-800-247-0560."

Rud has a right to request an administrative hearing within 30 days.
