Hamm invited to White House summit on cybersecurity
BISMARCK, N.D.—The White House invited North Dakota Insurance Commissioner Adam Hamm to today's Cybersecurity and Consumer Protection Summit at Stanford University. The event was organized by the White House to discuss cybersecurity and consumer protection with the goal of helping to shape public and private sector efforts to protect American consumers and companies from the growing threats of cyberattacks. Commissioner Hamm was asked to attend the summit because of his role as the Chair of the National Association of Insurance Commissioner's (NAIC) Cybersecurity Task Force.
"It's a privilege to represent North Dakota and all of America's state insurance regulators at this White House summit," Hamm said. "The recent breach at Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield has once again highlighted that cybersecurity is an issue where we all need to work together to protect consumers from these dangerous attacks."
The NAIC's Cybersecurity Task Force is focusing its efforts in 2015 on making recommendations and coordinating state efforts regarding the protection of consumer information collected by insurers; the protection of information housed in insurance departments and the NAIC; and collecting information on cyberliability policies being issued in the market.
