Great Northern Power Development and Industrial Commission Announce Coal Gasification Project at South Heart - November 20, 2007
BISMARCK, N. D. - The North Dakota Industrial Commission and representatives from Great Northern Power Development, L. P. (GNPD) and Allied Syngas Corporation (Allied Syngas) today announced a $1.4 billion coal gasification project at South Heart to produce pipeline quality natural gas.

Two companies -- Montana Dakota Utilities Co., Bismarck, ND, and Restore Power, Inc. (a wholly owned subsidiary of Westmoreland Coal Company), Colorado Springs, CO, -- have submitted applications for matching funds available under the North Dakota Lignite Research, Development and Marketing Program for the development of the Lignite Vision 21 Project near Gascoyne, ND. Up to $10 million in matching funds are available through the Lignite Vision 21 Project.

Karlene Fine, Executive Director of the Industrial Commission of North Dakota, and John Dwyer, President of the Lignite Energy Council and Chairman of the Lignite Research Council, announced today that Great River Energy, which operates North Dakota's Coal Creek Station and Stanton Station, has applied for $10 million in matching funds under the state's Lignite R and D Program for the development of the Lignite Vision 21 Project

Industrial Commission Approves R and D Projects - September 5, 2000
Governor Edward T. Schafer, Attorney General Heidi Heitkamp and Commissioner of Agriculture Roger Johnson approved funding of three North Dakota lignite projects on August 24, 2000. The three North Dakota Industrial Commission members approved $267,500 from the Lignite Research, Development and Marketing Program for the projects, and also approved grant application deadline dates for 2001 (January 1, May 1 and September 1).

Industrial Commission Recommends Matching Funds For Lignite Vision 21 Project - August 24, 2000
In an effort to further the largest economic development project in the state, the Industrial Commission of North Dakota today recommended that up to $10 million be made available in matching demonstration project funds for the Lignite Vision 21 Project.

Industrial Commission Approves Two Lignite R and D Projects - March 17, 2000
Governor Edward T. Schafer, Attorney General Heidi Heitkamp and Commissioner of Agriculture Roger Johnson approved funding for two lignite projects that will help keep the existing lignite power plants competitive and ensure lignite use in future plants, while maintaining North Dakota's air quality. On March 8, 2000, the North Dakota Industrial Commission approved $361,000 from the Lignite Research, Development and Marketing Program for the two projects.
