BISMARCK, N.D. - Col. James Prochniak, superintendent of the North Dakota Highway Patrol, announces the retirement of Cpt. Alan D. Billehus. Effective December 31, 2012, Billehus retired as a sworn officer from the North Dakota Highway Patrol after 25 years of distinguished service.
Billehus began his career with the Highway Patrol in August 1987, attending the Highway Patrol Academy in Bismarck. He was stationed as a trooper in Crosby and Williston. Billehus was promoted to sergeant in July 1995 and served in Devils Lake. In March 2000, he was promoted to captain and served as district commander in Williston. In July 2007, Billehus was assigned as the operations commander of the NDHP’s Northwest Region in Williston.
Upon his retirement, Billehus was awarded the NDHP Meritorious Service Medal for serving with merit and distinction.
