What type of class licenses does North Dakota have?
Non-commercial license classes:
·Class D issued for vehicles less than 26,001 lbs. Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR);

Commercial Drivers License (CDL):
·Class A for vehicle combinations with a GVWR over 26,001 lbs. towing a trailer over 10,000 lbs.;
·Class B for a single vehicle with a GVWR over 26,001 lbs. towing a trailer over 10,000 lbs.;
·Class C for a vehicle under 26,001 lbs. transporting hazardous materials or carrying 16 or more passengers, including the driver.
How old do I have to be to drive a motorcycle?
The minimum age to operate a motorcycle in North Dakota is 14 years of age. Applicants who are 14 or 15 years of age may be issued a motorcycle learner's permit (by successfully completing the motorcycle operator's written test) if the applicant is enrolled in or has completed an approved motorcycle safety course. Any person under 16 years of age, who holds a permit or license, is restricted to the operation of a motorcycle powered with an engine of 250 cubic centimeters, or less, displacement.
