Purpose

To ensure applications are developed consistently, are maintainable, and are recoverable.

Standard

Agencies or vendors providing application development shall have an established methodology.

Policy

To develop applications following a pre-defined and proven course of action to obtain the intended result.

Applicability

To all executive branch state agencies and institutions excluding the institutions under the control of the board of higher education with respect to academic and research uses of information technology.

Definition

Application
A software solution that accomplishes one or more business processes.
Established Methodology
A predefined set of practices, procedures and rules used to develop applications in a logical manner.

Guidance

Non-Compliance

The office of the State Auditor will report each instance of non-compliance to the Legislative Information Technology committee.
