When your mobile device is added to the State's infrastructure, certain IT policies will be implemented in order to ensure security on your device. These policies are defined below along with an explanation as to how they will effect your device.

IT Policies:

  • Password Required - A password will be required for your device, when this policy is implemented, you will notice it the next time you attempt to use the device, it will require you to create a password. Users will not be able to disable the Password from the device.
  • Minimum Password Length - The current minimum password length is 4 characters. There will be no restrictions / requirements as to special characters, alpha / numeric, capital letters, etc
  • Password Security Timeout - The current password security timeout is 5 minutes. This specifies the amount of idle time allowed before a handheld security timeout occurs and further use requires the user to type in their password. The handheld user can select any timeout value less than the 5 minutes.
  • Maximum Password Age - The current password age limit is 90 days. This specifies the number of days until a handheld password expires and the user is prompted to provide a new password.
  • Maximum Password History - The current password history limit is set to 5 passwords. This specifies the number of previous passwords a user cannot re-use when creating new passwords.
  • Maximum Password Attempts - The maximum password attempts is currently set to 10. This specifies how many attempts users will have to enter their password successfully. If the number of attempts are exceeded the device's memory will be wiped.
