In order to comply with security standards brought forth by Enterprise Architecture ITD will be installing the Safend hard drive encryption software to our agency laptops. After the agent is deployed your machine may reboot (this may have to happen twice for all policies to take affect) and will start working to encrypt your local drive. The encryption process can take about 4-8 hours to complete. During this time period you may perform work on your machine as you normally do. You can also dock/undock/power off/etc...If the process is interrupted it will continue where it left off. There is nothing you need to do special on the client end.

Who's Affected

All ITD laptops running Windows 7 that do not have the self-encrypting hard drives. Additional exclusion is laptops with the Symantec Endpoint Encryption (SEE) client software installed. SEE will need to be removed prior to the installation of Safend.
