1973 Fort Yates Warriors to be Recognized

The 1973 Class A Champion Fort Yates Warriors will be recognized Saturday, March 16 at the Bismarck Civic Center during
the North Dakota State Class “A” High School Basketball Tournament.Tournament Manager Jim Haussler says the recognition is
tentatively set to take place between the evening games, prior to the championship game.
In 1973, Fort Yates was one of the smallest Class A high schools in North Dakota. The Warriors defeated one of the largest
schools, Minot, in a triple-overtime thriller, widely regarded as one of the most exciting championship games in North Dakota
high school Basketball history.
The 40th anniversary recognition of the Warriors will come from the North Dakota High School Activities Association.
Championship teams from other years will also be honored.
