Minimum Qualifications:

Ability to teach in video production, art and/or graphic design preferred. An M.F.A. in Technical Theatre from a regionally accredited institution and evidence of successful undergraduate teaching are required.  A Ph.D. in Theatre will also be considered.

Summary of Work:

Dickinson State University’s Department of Fine & Performing Arts is seeking a creative scenographer and successful undergraduate teacher to fill a full-time, tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor of Theatre.  The ideal candidate has a broad range of design experience in a variety of genres.  The successful candidate will enjoy working collaboratively in a small department that serves not only its majors and minors but as an integral part of the general education curriculum for all programs on campus.  Responsibilities include teaching all technical and design classes, along with other classes in the Theatre curriculum as assigned, providing quality academic advising to students, participating in committee work, working collaboratively with colleagues and community theatre supporters, and continuous development of innovative research and creative works. The full teaching load is 12 credits per semester with 3 credits per semester assigned for duties as Technical Director and 3 additional load credits in the Fall semester assigned to supervise the creation of content and operation of the athletic stadium video board. Additional ability to teach in video production, art and/or graphic design preferred. An M.F.A. in Technical Theatre from a regionally accredited institution and evidence of successful undergraduate teaching are required.  A Ph.D. in Theatre will also be considered.  The salary is competitive with an attractive benefit package including TIAA-CREF retirement and employer Blue Cross Blue Shield health insurance coverage for employee and family.  Contract will begin August 16, 2013.
