Minimum Qualifications:

Juris Doctorate
Experience with compliance activities
Relevant practical experience with compliance in higher education
Working knowledge of regulatory environment affecting higher education
Demonstrated ability to function at a high level in crisis situations
Effective communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work under pressure in a timely, confidential and diplomatic manner
Demonstrated ability to work through both formal and informal channels to plan initiatives and resolve concerns that bridge divisional boundaries.
Currently licensed to practice law in the State of North Dakota, or with a Juris Doctorate or equivalent degree. If not currently licensed to practice law in North Dakota, the person must meet the General Requirements and Admission Standards of the North Dakota Admission to Practice Rules; be eligible for temporary licensure under Rule 6.1 of the Admission to Practice Rules; and become licensed within the time allowed by Rule 6.1(E) of the Admission to Practice Rules

Summary of Work:

The Compliance Officer leads the efforts to improve compliance with laws, policies, and procedures. This is accomplished through effective communication and cooperation with internal university stakeholders and with external bodies that have oversight of various functions of the university. The Compliance Officer also provides advice from a legal perspective as new initiatives are considered and concerns arise.
