Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates must possess a master’s degree in history, with a concentration in American history.  Excellent writing skills, strong communication skills, demonstrated skills in historical research, and experience producing historical materials for non-academic audiences are also required.

Preferred Qualifications:

A Ph.D. in history with a concentration in American history is a preferred qualification.

Summary of Work:

Dickinson State University invites applications for the position of Theodore Roosevelt Center Research Historian.  The goal of the Theodore Roosevelt Center is to serve scholars, tourists, teachers, curious citizens, and students of all ages as they explore the life and achievements of the 26th President of the United States.  The Research Historian will advance that goal by conducting historical research and engaging in historical writing related to the life and times of Theodore Roosevelt.  The research and writing will provide the foundation for: developing annotation and contextual materials and exhibits (both virtual and physical); making public presentations; developing and producing an e‑newsletter; and spearheading other efforts to promote the Theodore Roosevelt Digital Library collection.  Applicants who have high energy and enjoy collaboration will enjoy this position because the research historian will also work with P-16 teachers to develop age-appropriate curriculum materials and deliver appropriate guest lectures on campus.  Explore the initiatives of the Theodore Roosevelt Center at http://www.theodorerooseveltcenter.com
