Minimum Qualifications:
Must be 18 years of age.
Desirable Level of Knowledge, Skill and Ability: Preference will be given to those who have completed or are enrolled in a Parks and Recreation education program, natural resource management or related field. Ability to interpret aerial photography and topographical maps is preferred. Experience with GPS and GIS is also desired.
Essential Functions:
- Able to respond to medical and other emergency situations in a variety of terrain settings.
- Able to withstand exposure to varying weather conditions/temperatures for extended periods.
- Able to move 50-100 lbs. on a regular basis.
- Able to clearly communicate on and operate park radios.
- Able to clearly communicate instructions, directions, and information to staff and general public.
- Able to plan and schedule work assignments.
- Able to traverse steep, uneven terrain for long distances.
- Able to operate power tools and equipment.
- Able to successfully pass a law enforcement background check.
- Able to use objects associated with general maintenance.
- Required to wear necessary safety equipment.
- Require valid driver’s license with ability to operate automatic and manual transmission motor vehicles to include; car, tractor, riding mower, and OHV.

Responsible to the recreation area manager for operations, equipment, facility and grounds maintenance, and visitor service and safety in a state recreation area. Required to work some evenings, weekends and holidays in the summer.
- Assist in trail construction, maintenance and natural resource management of recreation area lands.
- Assists in the administration of park operations including preparation and submission of required reports.
- Performs maintenance tasks such as grounds upkeep, facility maintenance and cleaning, equipment servicing and repairs.
- Assist in noxious weed monitoring and control.
- Collects data using GPS and GIS.
