Minimum Qualifications:
Requires a bachelor’s degree in mathematics/finance/actuarial science or related field and four years of professional work experience in a health insurance related field. Comprehensive understanding of health care reform as it pertains to pricing and rate filings, medical loss ratio and rebate calculations. Ability to work with actuarial pricing and financial projection software packages. Membership in the Society of Actuaries (SOA) or American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA) is preferred. In-depth knowledge of health care industry and trends. Knowledge of life insurance industry helpful. Strong written and verbal communication skills needed.

Summary of Work:
- Review life and health insurance policy forms, actuarial memoranda and advertising material for compliance with North Dakota statutes, regulations and practices.
- Review and approve life and health insurance premium rate increase requests according to North Dakota statutes.
- Participate in agency team work in solvency regulation.
- Participate in National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) actuarial and North Dakota related life and health insurance activities.
- Assist the Insurance Commissioner in the development and drafting of insurance legislation, and development and implementation of policy, laws and administrative rules.
- Provide support and act as a resource to others within the Insurance Department
- Represent the Insurance Department with various constituents.
