Minimum Qualifications:

Must have one year of experience as a Developmental Disabilities Case Manager I in the North Dakota Department of Human Services or meet the following North Dakota Department of Human Services definition of a Qualified Mental Retardation Professional (QMRP).  "A person who has at least one year of direct care experience working with persons with a mental illness or developmental disability; is a doctor of medicine or has a bachelor’s or master’s degree in one of the following fields: social work, psychology, counseling, nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, child development and family science, communication disorders (includes audiology or speech pathology), severely multiply handicapped, special education, vocational, rehabilitation, sociology, elementary education, recreation therapy, or human resources administration and management (human service track). (Certification or licensure in one of the above fields is not required for a QMRP designation).”

Summary of Work:

The Developmental Disabilities Unit serves as the central point of access and reference for eligible individuals in Region VI who are mentally retarded and/or developmentally disabled.  The following counties are within Region VI: LaMoure, Dickey, Stutsman, Barnes, Logan, McIntosh, Griggs, Wells and Foster.  Essential position functions include providing information, referral and support to eligible individuals of all ages.  Services provided include the authorization of:

  • Program Management
  • Family Support Services
  • Day/Residential Supports
  • Advocacy

This position will require some travel.  Upon successful completion of a probationary period, the opportunity to work from a satellite location may become an option for the successful candidate.
