Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must be qualified as a Mental Health Professional under NDCC, Section 25-03.1-02, or will be qualified within 6 months. Mental Health Professional” means: A licensed social worker with a master's degree in social work; a licensed registered nurse with a master's degree in psychiatric and mental health nursing; a licensed registered nurse with two years of psychiatric clinical experience; a licensed addiction counselor; a licensed professional counselor, or a psychologist with at least a master's degree in psychology who is licensed or approved for license exemption. Applicants without a master's degree must have two years professional experience. Requires well-developed diagnostic and intervention skills. Knowledge of addiction and social detox protocol helpful. Will also consider individuals who will be graduating in December 2009 with a master’s degree in social work, counseling (including addiction counseling), nursing or psychology.

Prefer candidates with master’s degree in behavioral health care.

Summary of Work:

Duties include assessing adults and children/adolescents in crisis, and securing agency and community options for them. Provide mental health investigations on petitions for involuntary commitment for Region V.  Prescreen all admissions to the North Dakota State Hospital. Must be able to provide crisis stabilization/case management until services can be arranged; coordinate social detox/crisis residential placements at a local facility; complete agency intakes and refer to appropriate department(s) in Center or to outside agencies; provide rotating 24-hour on-call coverage; provide phone triage and scheduling for agency; serve as a community liaison regarding mental health issues; be an active member of a multi-disciplinary team, but be able to work independently.
