Minimum Qualifications:

The successful applicant must possess skill sets needed to perform administrative and managerial work of considerable complexity.  Ability to self-start, to multi-task and to manage substantial workflow with minimal direction and supervision is necessary.  Computer literacy and ability to use other technology to complete required tasks; strong oral and written communications skills; and solid budget preparation/budget management capability are required.  Working knowledge of the North Dakota legislative process is also essential.

Minimum educational requirements are:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a major in business or public administration, social work, or a related behavioral science such as psychology, counseling and guidance, or child development and family relations, education or other human service related field and four years of related professional work experience in administering and managing human services programs.
OR
  • Master’s degree in one of the fields listed above and two years of experience in administration.

Preference will be given to applicants who have experience working in the disability area, either with persons with disabilities or via disability programs.

In the interest of facilitating a smooth transition and maintaining program continuity, it is anticipated that the effective employment start date for the candidate selected will be on or about July 15, 2008.

Summary of Work:

Provide primary staff support to the State Council on Developmental Disabilities (SCDD); prepare state plans and budgets for the SCDD in accordance with applicable state and federal requirements; administer the overall implementation of the SCDD’s plan and direct the financial management of the authorized state budget and federal funding allotments; manage grant agreements with entities conducting projects and providing services for persons with developmental disabilities; advocate programs and policies that benefit persons with developmental disabilities and their families.
