Minimum Qualifications:

The successful applicant will have excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, ability to handle multiple tasks, experience using general office equipment and computer skills, including working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software.  This position requires the skills necessary for working with a high degree of confidential information, as well as the ability to work in a variety of dynamically complex work situations.  Work is expected to be performed with a high degree of professionalism and integrity.

Requires high school diploma or GED and three years of experience performing a variety of complex office support, clerical or secretarial work. Additional education with major coursework in office support or business or office education may substitute for the experience requirement on a year-for-year basis. This job requires considerable knowledge of personal computers and their use.

The following tests are required, and may be taken at any Job Service office. Only tests taken within the last six months will be valid. Test scores MUST be sent with application in order for candidate to be considered for this position. The following tests are required:

  • Typing test with a minimum typing speed of 50 wpm
  • Spelling test
  • Microsoft Word test (2003 or 2007 versions preferred)
  • Microsoft Excel test
  • Microsoft Outlook test

Preference will be given to candidates with: (Experience in these areas must be clearly stated on the application)

  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Experience in professional-level support of multiple individuals

Summary of Work:

Provide office support in a fast-paced and extremely busy office. Greet visitors, answer a multi-line telephone system, and direct visitors and callers appropriately. Compose, type and proof correspondence for staff. Process daily mail both incoming and outgoing. Knowledge of and use of a personal computer is essential in this position. Confidential information will be handled on a daily basis and confidentiality must be maintained at all times. Other general office duties such as copying, processing incoming and outgoing faxes, filing, and scheduling meetings for staff will be required.
