Minimum Qualifications:

M.S. degree in Public Health or closely related discipline; two years of experience in community or public health field, including specific experience working on health education projects; and demonstrated ability to conduct public health research and database analysis.

Summary of Work:

Responsible for developing and maintaining statewide cancer and chronic disease surveillance systems.  Specific duties include: (1) developing statewide cancer surveillance system capacity; (2) identifying and developing sources for surveillance data; (3) using cancer surveillance system data to monitor changes in cancer burden and economic impact of cancer; (4) disseminating chronic disease and cancer data through written reports and oral presentations; (5) completing data requests and responding to cancer cluster inquiries; (6) maintaining statewide chronic disease surveillance systems; (7) designing and implementing special cancer and chronic disease studies as needed; (8) evaluating program progress toward state and national objectives; (9) developing surveillance plans and activities to support programmatic and cooperative agreement needs and requirements; and (10) designing and implementing special cancer and chronic disease studies as needed.
