State Employees: Training Classes for ND State Employees
Managing Four Generations in the Workplace
Course Contents
This course is newly designed by HRMS trainers Linda Jensen and Gerard Schwan. The workshop helps the supervisor/manager develop personal techniques that reduce conflicts between generational workforces. This is the first time in history that four generations have been employed at the same time; causing unique differences, values, and belief systems to clash.
The training session is based on research by Cam Marston, published author and public speaker; and William Strauss and Neil Howe, theorists and published authors. What participants get is a blend of information that they can use to help mitigate constant generational differences that often appear as personality or work-ethic conflicts. Executing management fundamentals well is the key to managing four generations in the workplace. Participants will realize that they may have to alter and update their current management approach in order to influence other generations. Staying flexible and adaptable will help supervisors solve generational differences in the workplace.
