SUPERVISOR, ADULT EDUCATION PROGRAMS (1501)
dEPARTMENT OF cORRECTIONS & REHABILITATION
Grade 12
Scope of Work:
Work involves supervising the Adult Education programs and staff within the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (DOCR) as well as providing classroom instruction to offenders.
Duties Performed:
- Oversee daily operations of Adult Education; supervise, train, and evaluate staff.
- Participate in the budget process, monitor program budgets.
- Coordinate the Read Right Program; develop selection criteria and program rewards; tutor and monitor progress of students; educate staff regarding program.
- Interview inmates to assess and determine educational needs.
- Provide classroom instruction to offenders with learning disabilities; test, observe, and evaluate inmates to determine possibility of learning disabilities; write Individual Education Plans and design programs to remediate specific learning disabilities; identify appropriate materials for students.
- Document and report inmate noncompliance of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.
- Compile and maintain data for programs and complete required reports.
- Participate in various committees and associations as appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications:
Requires a bachelor’s degree in an education field, possession of a valid North Dakota Teaching Certificate, a North Dakota Learning Disabilities credential, and three years teaching experience that included team leader, lead worker, or supervisory responsibilities.
