DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION - NDVS/SB (1018)
Grade 13
Scope of Work:
Work is performed under the direction of the Superintendent, ND Vision Services/ School for the Blind (NDVS/SB), and involves managing educational programming for children and adults with vision impairments.
Duties Performed:
- Supervise assigned staff, assign work duties, develop and implement work standards and performance measures, assess training needs of staff and plan and provide in-service training.
- Respond to and provide guidance to staff at the School and in the regional offices.
- Plan for, coordinate, develop, and deploy professional development opportunities, such as conferences and forums for teachers in public schools or vocational rehabilitation who teach children and adults with vision impairments.
- Assess need for, plan, organize, coordinate, implement, and evaluate services provided by NDVS/SB to ensure quality programming for children and adults with vision impairments.
- Collaborate with other agencies to align programming to best serve students and clients and ensure state and federal requirements are met.
- Assist with center-based instruction to meet programming needs; provide technical assistance to individuals with vision impairment and to vision teachers in public schools.
- Participate in budget development and long-term strategic planning activities; prioritize goals.
- Participate with the Superintendent in leading staff on accreditation activities; ensure accreditation requirements are met.
- Prepare reports and complete and maintain other records as required.

Minimum Qualifications:
Requires a master’s degree with a major in special education and three years of professional-level work experience providing services to individuals with vision impairments.
