The North Dakota Veterans History Project continues to accept the stories
of wartime veterans who live in or served from North Dakota. These stories
illuminate individuals' experiences, enhance the understanding of
these eras, and provide bridges between generations. With support from a grant through the General Services Administration, the State
Historical Society of North Dakota was able to staff this project with a full-time coordinator. The coordinator position ended December 30, 2006.
You can still be a part of this important project. As a veteran who is willing to share your story for the project,
or as a volunteer who is willing to conduct an interview, transcribe an interview, or identify a veteran who wants to be interviewed,
you can still participate in this project. Project procedures and forms are accessible through the link on the left side of this page. More information on the project is available by following the
"FAQ" link.
The project was initiated by Congress and the Library of Congress has
encouraged participation throughout the country. The State Historical Society of North Dakota is
a repository for oral history interviews and transcripts generated by
the project.
