As reflected in the title of the State Historical Society of North Dakota's 1997 history conference, "Deep Roots: preserving our sacred heritage," the personal religious beliefs of people have played an important role in this region's history. The collections of the State Historical Society include records, manuscripts and publications relating to a number of religious denominations represented in North Dakota. Included in the following bibliography are the organized denominations for which we have major collections of material. Included will be records of activities of congregations, related manuscript collections reflecting personal involvement, publications of the denominations, reports on architecture and missionary activities. A more extensive bibliography of holdings relating to all religions represented in the state is available upon request. This information is also available in .pdf format.
