NATIONAL QUILTERS’ DAY QUILT ‘TIL YOU DROP!
ACTIVITIES AT NORTH DAKOTA HERITAGE CENTER MARCH 15
BISMARCK – If you are a quilter or just a quilt fan, you won’t want to miss this – an entire day of individual and family activities for young and old alike on Saturday, March 15 commemorating National Quilters’ Day. The Quilt ‘til You Drop! events will take place at the North Dakota Heritage Center in Bismarck from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m.
All events – except the quilting classes – are free and open to the public. They are sponsored by the State Historical Society of North Dakota and the Capital Quilters of Bismarck in recognition of National Quilters’ Day.
The March 15 event will feature classes, demonstrations, and a quilt show. A highlight will be the Capital Quilters of Bismarck, who will conduct quilting classes throughout the day. The featured teachers will be Laura Foxall, Alice Coats, Connie Werner, Patty Steinert, Norma Lee Miller and Jenny Yearous. All are members of the Capital Quilters except Miller, who is a quilter from the Williston area. Area quilters are encouraged to attend and quilt or take classes.
Here is the schedule for the day:
A Quilt Show will also be featured at the North Dakota Heritage Center beginning Saturday, March 15 and continue through Sunday, March 16. It will showcase the talents of the Capital Quilters.
Since organizing in 1981, the Capital Quilters have participated in numerous quilt shows, displays and demonstrations. These include such annual events as the Bismarck Folk Fest, Art in Motion at Bismarck’s Kirkwood Mall, and the Capital A’Fair sponsored by the Bismarck Arts and Gallery Association (BAGA) on the state capitol grounds. The group has also featured quilts in several exhibits at BAGA and the Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library, and sponsored many quilt shows, including the Quiltfest held each November.
