FUN-FILLED HALLOWEEN HISTORY HAUNT! CRITTERS IN THE MUSEUM FEATURED AT NORTH DAKOTA HERITAGE CENTER OCTOBER 31
BISMARCK – This Halloween, trick or treaters have the chance to visit with the a variety critters as part of the fun-filled events scheduled to entertain children and their families at History Haunt! Critters in the Museum at the North Dakota Heritage Center Halloween night, Wednesday, October 31. The eerie activities will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
“We invite everyone who’s out trick or treating Halloween night to also make a stop at the Heritage Center, where they can join in on the Halloween fun,” said Marilyn Snyder, curator of education for the State Historical Society of North Dakota, which is sponsoring the event. “There will be a lot of fun events going on that will keep them entertained.”
In addition to the Halloween activities and treats, visitors will be invited to view the critters from the Dakota Zoo selected especially to fit in with the Halloween theme as well as visit with storybook characters, both characters associated with animals and animals, in the Main Gallery and lobby. Kids and parents will have fun guessing the stories the animals and their friends represent. Real and costumed animals will be on present to greet the visitors. Face painting, crafts and games will also be featured in the classrooms at the Heritage Center. Those hungry or thirsty will be able to enjoy ghostly punch and nibble on the many goodies that will be available.
Visitors that night are also encouraged to bring a camera and capture the laughs as they pose with their face in special Halloween and historic cutouts – a World War I “doughboy” and sailor, a Norwegian bridal costume, Sakakawea and her baby son Pomp, a huge pumpkin, a funny-looking scarecrow couple and a farmer on a tractor.
