Museums in North Dakota, Inc. (MIND) is a private nonprofit corporation registered in the State of North Dakota. Its purposes are: "...to promote and facilitate cooperation and communication among museums, museum workers, and related organizations; and to improve professional standards within the museum field."
MIND defines a museum as follows: "... an organized and permanent institution with a staff, paid or volunteer. A museum is essentially educational in nature, owns or utilizes tangible objects or living objects, cares for them, and exhibits them to the public on some regular schedule."
Its institutional members are a private nonprofit historic site, county historical societies, science centers, zoos, a national historic site, a pioneer village, private nonprofit history museums, a private nonprofit botanical garden, a statewide art association, private nonprofit art museums, a university art museum, state museums, and tribal museums. MIND also has individual members.
MIND publishes a Newsletter, hosts professional training workshops, and has an annual meeting. For membership, events schedule, and general information, contact:
