These steps are accomplished by the coordination and integration of the work of a Comprehensive Historic Preservation Planning Committee (comprised of the professional preservation staff of the State Historic Preservation Office), the work of the State Historical Society of North Dakota’s Strategic Long Range Planning Committee (comprised of State Historical Society of North Dakota staff with additional citizen input), the results of a series of public meetings conducted around the state annually, and a series of citizen surveys, taken in the two to three year period prior to plan revision. The data thus accumulated forms the basis for analysis, discussion, proposed conclusions, professional and public review and final publication.
For additional details of this process, please refer to the “How This Plan Was Developed" section of the downloadable plan.
The next planned major revision of the North Dakota Statewide Comprehensive Historic Preservation Plan is scheduled for 2009.
