North Dakota GIS Day 2004 - November 17, 2004

Governor John Hoeven proclaimed (60kb jpg) November 17, 2004 as GIS Day in North Dakota. It was a successful event with over 90 registrants from state agencies, counties, cities, higher education and private enterprise attending GIS exhibits, poster session, and presentations. Approximately 34% of the registrants were from state agencies, 23% from private enterprise, 14% from counties, 7% from higher education, 11% from federal agencies, and 11% from cities. GIS Day was held in Bismarck at the North Dakota Heritage Center.

Presentations were made by: North Dakota Geological Survey, GCS Research, U.S. Geological Survey, North Dakota Career and Technical Education, North Dakota Information Technology Department, North Dakota State Water Commission, ESRI, City of Grand Forks, Interstate Engineering, City of Fargo, and Cass County with Pro-West and Associates. Please click on a name to see the abstract and presentation, if available.

Exhibits were presented by: Agri ImaGIS, Pro-West and Associates, Houston Engineering, ESRI, Interstate Engineering, Kadrmas Lee and Jackson, BullBerry Systems, Natural Resources Conservation Service, Michael Baker Corporation, GCS Research, Farm Service Agency, and Rural Geospatial Innovations.

Posters were presented by: North Dakota Geological Survey, North Dakota State Water Commission, Natural Resources Conservation Service, and U.S. Geological Survey.

The North Dakota GIS Technical Committee (GISTC) developed and hosted the GIS Day event. The GISTC would like to thank the following groups for their help and assistance: The Information Technology Department for sponsoring the event and providing the networking (especially Kim W. and Art K.!), the North Dakota Heritage Center for the use of their wonderful facilities (thanks Beth!), the State Water Commission for providing the GIS Day posters, the Department of Commerce for supplying the GIS Day banner, and Central Duplicating for printing of the GIS Day announcements. The GISTC extends a special thanks to those who spent their valuable time preparing for the presentations, exhibits, and posters...and traveling to Bismarck to share their ideas with the GIS community. The GISTC wants to especially thank all of those who took time from their work load to attend the GIS Day events, in many cases traveling a long distance.

We hope to see you all next year for GIS Day 2005!
