North Dakota GIS Users Conference - September 10-12, 2013

The North Dakota GIS Users Conference was a successful event with 196 registered attendees from state agencies, counties, cities, higher education, utilities, and the private sector. Approximately 37% of the participants were from the private sector, 34% from higher education, 12% from state agencies, 7% from counties, 4% from cities, 3% from federal agencies, 3% from utilities/oil/gas and 1% from tribal organizations. 12% of the people were from out of state and 1 was from outside of the U.S. The conference was held at the outstanding Alerus Center in Grand Forks.

The Full GIS Technical Committee meeting was held as a part of the conference, at the beginning. More information can be found in the minutes.

The first keynote presentation, "Unmanned Aircraft: Turning Potential into Reality" was provided by Dr. Mark Askelson, Associate Professor of Atmospheric Sciences, University of North Dakota. The second keynote presentation, "How to Remain Relevant in the Age of Change, or What GIS Pros Can Do to Keep Their Skills in Demand." was provided by James Fee, owner of Spatially Adjusted LLC and Spatial IT Director at the URS Corporation.
