May 2010: New Database System
We are in the process of upgrading the GIS Hub infrastructure with the result being called GIS Hub II. The first phase has been completed with the replacement of a single Sun server running Oracle Enterprise Edition with two Linux servers running Oracle Standard Edition. This new system will provide an increase in throughput, provide high availability, and allow us to increase our storage capability. As an outcome of using the Linux servers and the different Oracle version we have also reduced our monthly hosting expense.
