Soil Survey Geographic Database (SSURGO) products have tremendous potential in Land Use Planning. The NRCS tool Soil Data Viewer allows GIS users to develop custom interpretive layers from template databases. We will demonstrate some functionality, tips and tricks in operating Soil Data Viewer in ArcGIS. We will also discuss different methods of aggregating data, and other potential applications of the SSURGO database.
