Natural disaster is a constant threat to America's farmers and ranchers and rural residents. The Farm Service Agency provides assistance for losses that result from drought, flood, fire, freeze, tornadoes, pest infestation, and other calamities. This presentation will focus on tools and processes that the North Dakota FSA uses to document natural disasters.
Development of the Common Land Unit

Farm Service Agency set out to establish a standardized GIS data layer that could be used in all FSA offices nationwide. The dataset, called the Common Land Unit (CLU), serves as the basis for records management and facilitates intelligent decision making for program administration. This presentation will discuss the initial creation of the CLU, processes to ensure accuracy, and uses for the data.
