This practical presentation will walk participants through the concept and process of planning and implementing an effective GIS program or project.
Successful implementation of GIS into an organization or project involves many steps; Identifying GIS business objectives and current business processes, determining the technology and system infrastructure readiness to meet the objectives, determining GIS database readiness, organizational readiness, developing an enterprise GIS Implementation Plan, and finally validating the Implementation Plan in R&D lab like environment. The presentation will dissect the various parts of the planning process as well as provide case studies that demonstrate successful planning and implementation.
This session is intended for anyone who uses GIS or works in a supervisory or project management role where GIS plays a part of the business process.
