Data Download Now Available and New Hub Explorer Map - March 2004

Vector data can now be downloaded from the North Dakota GIS Hub in a format and coordinate system of your choosing! Data can be searched via the Metadata Explorer or by graphically selecting it within the Hub Explorer. If using the Metadata Explorer a single layer will be downloaded, at the full extents of that layer. If using the Hub Explorer, one or more layers can be downloaded and clipped to the extents of the current map view. The clipping of the data to the current view extents can be handy for creating smaller data sets. Please be sure to use the feedback link that you will see after submitting your data request to let us know what you think of this new tool, thanks. More information on downloading data from the Metadata Explorer or the Hub Explorer can be found in the Extracting Data from the North Dakota GIS Hub page.

A new Hub Explorer interactive map is now available. Nearly all layers used in the other Hub Explorer interactive maps are available in this one new Hub Explorer map. The layers are grouped within folders and layers that are present but not visible are listed within the folders. Printing has been enhanced in this new Hub Explorer map to include landscape printing and printing to 11x17-inch paper. The status bar at the bottom of the map displays latitude and longitude as the mouse moves. And finally, you can download data from the General Information All Data interactive map by first clicking on the EXPANDED MENU button, then clicking on the EXTRACT DATA button. The North Dakota GISTC plans to monitor the usage of the other Hub Explorer maps to determine if some of those other interactive maps should be discontinued in the future. Please note that at this time, if you wish to use this new Hub Explorer interactive map on a Macintosh, you will need to use Netscape or Mozilla. There are some problems with this Hub Explorer when using Internet Explorer 5.x on the Mac. We apologize for any inconvenience.
