Welcome to Fiscal Management
Fiscal Management oversees the budgeting,
accounting, payroll, and financial reporting functions for North Dakota state government entities.
The budget staff, along with Governor Hoeven and his staff, develop the Governor's executive budget recommendations. These recommendations are presented to the Legislature prior to each legislative session. The budget staff monitors and supports the executive budget recommendation through final passage by the Legislature and approval by the Governor.
The accounting staff assures that all bills owed by state entities are paid timely and recorded accurately using the PeopleSoft financial system. Information on state government spending is available on the Fiscal Management website.
The payroll staff is responsible for ensuring all state employees are paid timely and accurately on a monthly basis. The PeopleSoft Payroll system also records leave earned and taken by employees.
Each year a Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) is prepared by the CAFR staff. The CAFR is the financial statement for the state.
Other duties of the Fiscal Management Division of OMB are to establish Fiscal and Administrative Policies, provide out-of-state per diem rates and the employee travel reimbursement form and produce publications including a monthly Rev-E-News newsletter.
