North Dakota Flowerbed
Capitol Grounds Planning Commission approved this design in September of 1980; May of 1981 was the first year that the flowers were put in to spell North Dakota.

We use red and white Petunias in the flowerbed. Each flag pole takes approximately 950 petunias they have a wagon wheel look to them. The North Dakota flowerbed takes 5,000 petunias, each letter is 15 feet high, the flowerbed is 20 feet wide by approximately 200 feet long.

The Elm trees that line the Capitol Mall were planted in the spring of 1936.
