The Education Standards and Practices Board (ESPB) conference call meeting was called to order by Chris Douthit, board chair.  Board members who were present were Laura Carley, Pam Cronin, Phil Eastgate, Marianna Malm, Neil Nordquist, Don Paulsrud and Dan Vainonen.  Janet Welk, ESPB executive director was also present.

Board members who did not participate in the conference call were Kathy Kiedrowski and Paul Johnson.

Janet asked to add to the agenda discussion for a representative to attend the National Comprehensive Center for Teacher Quality Conference.   A motion was made by Marianna nominating Chris to represent North Dakota.  Second by Don.  Motion carried.   Board members who voted yes were Laura Carley, Pam Cronin, Chris Douthit, Phil Eastgate, Marianna Malm, Neil Nordquist, Don Paulsrud and Dan Vainonen.

Much discussion was done by the board regarding P-16 Education Task Force Report.  The board would like to move forward and understand that this will be a challenge but want North Dakota to be first in the nation.   At the October 12th board meeting, further P-16 discussion will be held.  The meeting will start at 9:30; moving the licensure subcommittee meeting to 8:30.

The Governor’s philosophy is on the same page, how we sell it, what should we sell and how can help be provided were questions the board had.  The board will check with the state of Georgia’s P-16 initiative.

A motion was made by Marianna to adjourn the meeting.  Second by Dan.  Motion carried.   Board members who were in agreement were Laura Carley, Pam Cronin, Chris Douthit, Phil Eastgate, Marianna Malm, Neil Nordquist, Don Paulsrud and Dan Vainonen.
