The Communications Team (CT) is the domain team responsible for selecting product standards, defining standard configurations, collaborating on component architecture design principles with the architecture team, and planning and executing projects for office automation.
The term “Office Automation” is generally used to describe the use of computer systems to perform office operations such as word processing, spreadsheets, presentation design, desktop publishing, desktop database support, web browsing, and groupware. Groupware itself can be further defined as a set of collaborative technologies used for such things as e-mail, calendaring, faxing, instant messaging, desktop audio/video conferencing, chat services, presence detection, white-boarding, application sharing, and collaborative applications.
The benefits of office automation extend beyond the boundaries of any one agency. Therefore, the challenge is to deploy office automation technology in a way that allows for interoperability among everyone within ND State Government.
