Mentorship: The NDYCC mentorship opportunity is designed to help soon to be released students transition back into the community. NDYCC asks for a minimum of a one-year commitment within this program. The mentor would spend approx. the first 6 months working with the youth within the institution and the last 6 months assisting the youth transition into the community after release. The goal is to familiarize the student with Independent Living Skills, (apartment hunting, banking, transportation, fitness, spiritual, employment, education) preparing students for successful transition back into the community. Students identify short and long range plans for employment, housing and parenting needs.
