Careers In Corrections-Business/Accounting:
Employment positions in accounting are: Account Technicians, Business Managers, and Directors of Finance. These positions can be located in DOCR facilities located in Bismarck/Mandan or in the administrative building on the James River Correctional Center property in Jamestown.
Business/accounting position opportunities within the North Dakota Department of Corrections range from basic accounting duties such as opening and date stamping invoices, to preparing biennial budgets and fiscal reporting.
The Director of Administration, Business Manager and Director of Finance positions require a Bachelor’s Degrees in Business, Public Administration or Accounting and the Account Technician positions requires an Associate Degree or equivalent years of accounting or bookkeeping experience.
Positions include:
Director of Administration: Directs and manages the business, medical, and physical plant sections of the DOCR and has overall supervision of the following positions:
Business Manager: will perform accounting, as well as fiscal and budget functions within the DOCR in their assigned area.
Director of Finance: responsible for the entire fiscal operations for the DOCR and its divisions.
Account Technician – Accounts Payable: is responsible for the daily preparation and processing of the DOCR’s accounts payable transactions.
Account Technician – Inmate Accounts is responsible for the inmate accounting which involves preparing and processing all daily transactions.
