2nd floor of JRCC has been in operation since 1998. Originally the unit housed female inmates for the North Dakota Department of Correction. In 2002, the females were moved to DWCRC and the unit now houses 91 male inmates. The housing unit is staffed by correctional officers, correctional case workers and a case manager. The case manager is responsible for the overall operation of the housing unit. The case workers supervise the daily operations and the correctional officers. The officers are responsible for the safety and security of the housing unit. Support staff on the housing unit includes two human relation counselors. The housing unit itself is a dorm setting environment where there are anywhere from 4 to 7 inmates in a dorm. A dayroom is also located on the housing unit.
