Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage - Part D
Coverage under the new federal Medicare Prescription Drug Program began January 1, 2006. If you or a loved one participates in both MEDICARE and Medicaid ("dually eligible individuals") and received prescriptions through Medicaid before January 1, you should now be receiving your medications through the federal government's new MEDICARE Prescription Drug Program.
If you experience problems with the new federal prescription coverage, please contact your MEDICARE Prescription Drug Plan (see your acknowledgement letter or Drug Plan card for contact information), or call MEDICARE at (800) 633-4227 (1-800-MEDICARE). TTY users should call (877) 486-2048. Your pharmacist may also be able to assist you.
To learn about action Governor John Hoeven took in the early days of the new federal program to help assure that dually eligible individuals received needed medications through the N.D. Department of Human Services, see this news item (link to press release http://governor.nd.gov/media/news-releases/2006/01/060106.html) from the Governor's Office.
