The purpose of Independent Living Services is to eliminate barriers and provide assistance to individuals with disabilities so they can live and work more independently in their homes and communities.
Services include: independent living skills training, personal assistance services, housing assistance, transportation assistance, social and recreational activities, community awareness and education, self and systems advocacy, peer counseling, information and referral, community education, technical assistance to businesses and local governments, and other services as appropriate.
The Independent Living State Plan is jointly developed by the Statewide Independent Living Council (SILC) and North Dakota Vocational Rehabilitation (NDVR) and is signed by both the President of the SILC and the Director of NDVR. The above link is the current 3 - Year State Plan which is in effect from October 1, 2007 through September 30, 2010.
