Q. What is the ReliaCard Visa?
A. The ReliaCard is a debit card issued by U.S. Bank. The card is branded by VISA and is accepted anywhere VISA is accepted.
Q. Is the ReliaCard a credit card?
A. No. Unlike a credit card, cardholders can only use funds that have been deposited in to their account. There is no line of credit on the account.
Q. How do I qualify for the ReliaCard?
A. No pre-approval or credit check is required. You will automatically receive the card if you do not choose to have your support payments sent by direct deposit to your checking or savings account.
Q. Do I have to have an existing account with U.S. Bank to get a ReliaCard?
A. No. An account will automatically be set up for you if you do not choose to have your support payments sent by direct deposit to your checking or savings account.
Q. Will I receive a ReliaCard in the mail?
A. Yes, the card will be mailed to you in a plain white envelope. You must call U.S. Bank’s ReliaCard customer service to activate the card. The phone number and instructions will come with the card. The card cannot be used until it is activated. You will be asked to choose a Personal Identification Number (PIN) when you call to activate your card.
Q. Who can I contact if I have questions about the ReliaCard?
A. After receiving the card, questions may be directed to U.S. Bank’s ReliaCard customer service at 1-855-254-8813 or visit www.usbankreliacard.com. Customer service representatives are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If you have questions about support payments or your child support case, you may contact the Child Support Division at 1-800-231-4255 or visit www.childsupportnd.com.
Q. Are there fees associated with the ReliaCard?
A. Yes. A list of fees is provided when the ReliaCard is sent to you. Once you receive your card, carefully read the material that comes with it as the material includes important information about fees and uses of your card.
Q. Can the Child Support Division view or track transactions on my ReliaCard?
A. No. For privacy reasons, U.S. Bank does not share account numbers or transaction details. However, for reconciliation purposes, Child Support does have access to the amount and date deposits are made to accounts.
Q. When are payments deposited to my ReliaCard?
A. Payments are usually deposited to ReliaCard accounts two business days after they are processed by the State Disbursement Unit (SDU). The SDU receives and processes payments every business day. Up-to-date information about payments processed by the SDU is available at 1-800-231-4255 or www.childsupportnd.com.

Q. How do I check the balance of my ReliaCard account?
A. 1) View your account information online at www.usbankreliacard.com. 2) Call the toll-free customer service number on the back of your ReliaCard 1-855-254-8813. 3) Perform a balance inquiry at an ATM.
Q. Am I required to have a ReliaCard to receive my support payments?
A. No. Support payments will be deposited to a ReliaCard account or you may have support payments sent by direct deposit to your checking or savings account. You will automatically receive a ReliaCard if you do not choose to have your support payments sent by direct deposit to your checking or savings account.
Q. What if I have a ReliaCard but would rather have my payments sent by direct deposit to my checking or savings account?
A. Simply complete the direct deposit enrollment form and submit it to the Direct Deposit Unit. Six days after your enrollment form is processed, support payments will start going to the account you designated. You will receive notification of the date that payments will start going to your checking or savings account. Be sure to keep your ReliaCard until you have spent all of the funds in the ReliaCard account.

A. Certain conditions may exist which would exempt you from being required to use the ReliaCard or direct deposit. The exemptions include certain physical or mental disabilities, language barrier, or not having an ATM within 50 miles of your home. In addition, if you have a court appointed guardian or bankruptcy trustee overseeing your child support payments, you may qualify for an exemption.
