Common Errors

Error 1: Employer does not begin withholding in timely manner

Problem: If employers do not begin withholding the first payday after the receipt of an income withholding order, recipients will not receive child support in a timely manner and employees may become delinquent.

Appropriate Action: Per state law, employers must begin withholding the first payday after receipt of an income withholding order.
